The oldest part of Chinaillon village dates back to the 12th Century. Now the modern village offers all the requirements of a mountain resort with restaurants, bars and a lively “après ski”. However, the architecture of the village has been maintained in the authentic and traditional style of the region.
At the heart of the Aravis ski area, the Chinaillon village is at an attitude of 1400 metres. With more than 200km of piste and rising to 2100 metres the pistes offer a range of challenges to skiers of all abilities. The lower slopes offer a beautiful skiing environment and there are stunning views of the high Alpes from the summits of La Floria and Mont Lachat.
The ski school is in close proximity to the chalet, as is the ski de fond piste. Another popular activity is mountain walking in snow shoes. For the very adventurous visitors there is a rock climbing school and a ‘via ferrata' within walking distance from the chalet.
English is spoken throughout the village which has a good supermarket, butcher, patisserie, pharmacy and doctor's surgery. There is also a helpful tourist office.
If you have a car you can make bulk purchases at the hypermache's in Thones or Annecy . The ski bus runs throughout the resort and connects with Grand Bornand where non-skiers can take the telecabin up the mountain to join skiers for an alpine lunch. |
